Program Objectives

This course of study combines Engineering concepts with Agricultural science and process Optimization. Food safety, Quality assurance, Machine design, Waste management, and supply chain logistics are all prioritized. Biotechnology Applications and Economic Analysis in Agro-processing are also covered in the program. Students gain practical experience through Internships, preparing them to contribute to sustainable Agricultural development by efficiently transforming Raw materials into valuable products.

Entry Requirements
  • Essential A-Level Subjects: You must score at least 2 principal passes in Mathematics and Physics on the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
  • Relevant A-Level Subjects: Your third subject performance is evaluated from Chemistry, Agriculture, Biology, Economics, or Technical Drawing.
  • Diploma Alternative: You can apply with a Credit or Second-Class Diploma in Agricultural Mechanization, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Career Prospects
  • Food Processing Industry: Employment with large manufacturing firms like MIECA Uganda Ltd or Uganda Fish Processors.
  • Quality & Safety Control: Serving as Quality Assurance Officers or Food Inspectors in corporate and regulatory packaging facilities.
  • Machinery Fabrication: Developing or repairing automated grain mill systems, fruit oil cold-presses, or post-harvest storage systems.

Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering

Program Objectives

The Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering is an undergraduate program designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the field of mining and mineral resource extraction. This program combines technical knowledge, engineering principles, and practical skills to prepare students for a rewarding career in the mining industry. Entry Requirements
  • Direct Entry (A-Level):
    • Essential Subjects: Mathematics and Physics.
    • Relevant Subjects: One best-done subject from Chemistry or Geography.
    • General Requirements: A minimum of two (2) principal passes at UACE and five (5) passes at UCE (O-Level).
  • Diploma Entry:
    • You must hold at least a Second Class/Credit Diploma from a recognized institution in a field directly relevant to engineering.
  • Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC):
    • Applicants with a HEAC in Physics and Mathematics (HPM) are also eligible for consideration.
Career Prospects

Mining engineers design, construct and operate mine and quarry workings to extract coal, metals such as copper, iron or zinc and non-metals such as salt, sand, clay or phosphates.
